Default Jamaican Princess Weekend wrap up

Sat 6/13 was the first of two open boat trips for Seabass, our first drop was fantastic with a really good mix of Seabass and Ling. The crew picked away making short work of filling the box when the bite slowed to a trickle we pulled the anchors and took a short ride to spot number two were we topped off the boxes before heading for the barn with a tired but happy crew. In addition to ling and sea bass we also had a quite a few pesky Blackfish that again were returned unharmed with the promise that we would be back for them in Nov.

Sun 6/14 started off sloooow, I had been running south the last couple of weeks but on a hot tip from one of our dive boat buddies I ran to a small wreck to the north that was supposedly “teaming” with life. When I got on the wreck the fish finder was lit up like a Christmas tree and was anticipating a repeat of the day before. What started as a very slow pick tuned into mush in no time, off to the next one same thing, slow pick, lots of shorts then nothing, same thing on next one. I started thinking about looking through everyone’s stuff for Bananas. With one last drop in us I made the decision to run all the way back south to where we had been doing good the last couple of weeks and it paid off. What we didn’t have in quantity we definitely made up for in quality with some really nice knuckleheads.
