Hudson Report Sept 5,6
Took some friends to the Hudson for an overnighter Friday. We planned to go Sunday but the forecast convinced us to go earlier. Afternoon trolling was very slow and we did not get a bite until just before setting up for the night and the guys landed a longfin. Night chunking provided a little more action when we went one for three on longfins early. At 11pm we netted a squid and dropped it down 100 ft and immediately hooked up with a good sized yellowfin which took us around the boat before it was gaffed. Just before daybreak we caught a small sword which was released and then we flatlined another longfin. We stayed on the chunk until 7am watching most of the fleet head for home in building seas. We then started our uncomfortable ride home with the four tuna on ice.
