Rvr 12/19
Got up at 6am and went on the hunt for the infamous RV trout. Round Valley is either a great success or utter failure for me, and my records here aren't that good. The last two trips I got the skunk, and a cold, but the warmer weathers persuaded me to still go. Stopped on the way down at Behre tackle shop, and got my usual 2 dozen shiners. When I rolled up into the boat dock area I was surprised that I was the only one there. The first area I fished was the sand bank across from the boat ramp. I fished from 6:30 to 9 with nothing but a good view, and a few birds. Coming to the conclusion that today was not my day, I packed up my stuff and went on a hike to find a new fishing spot. Once I go there I casted all three rods, shiners under a slip float, and chilled out. In the span of the next two hours I only got one bite. By 11 it was time for me to leave, and when i was reeling in one of my poles I noticed that one of my bobbers were missing. Of course this was the pole the farthest from where I was standing, roughly 50 ft away, so I started a full out sprint. Quickly set the hook thinking it was the usual 15 inch trout, only to see at the end of the line a Round Valley Tagged brown trout. This beauty was thick, and I think 24 inches long. The fish was tired out, and my pliers were far away so I left the tag in and quickly released it after a few pictures. It swam off fine, and I saw it swimming around an hour later. It may not seem like it, due to the water clearness, but the trout never left the water
