08/19 Passaic River...Fish On
Hit the Passaic on Sunday morning to continue learning the differences between river and lake fishing. I launched and paddled up to a laydown tree on a barren shore line and knew there "should" be a fish there. I pulled out my jerkbait rod and contemplated retying from my last trip but decided to just start fishing (foreshadowing). Perfect cast with the jerkbait and a nice fish nails it like a freight train. This fish jumps 2ft out of the air so I lower the rod tip to try to keep it in the water, fish had other ideas and on its second 2ft jump it snapped the line. I thought things were going to go down hill but the rest of the day was great. I managed my best day for numbers with 16 smallies and 1 small LM. Nothing to brag about as the best one got away but here is a picture of the best landed fish measuring 13inches.
