I will be there with my canoe, I was thinking of also taking my 14ft. cartop Grumman but it may draft too deep full of tires. I talked to the young man on the phone, he is already considering the North Branch and the main stem of the Raritan.
Not calling for an official Meet and Greet but it should be on the table for next year.
Maybe if a pool is run at a M&G half or all should be donated to people like this, he has to pay to dispose of the tires and thats not cheap, he got one $100.00 donation and he is doing back flips about it. Think about if the dams come down on the Millstone, the clean up needed there, or maybe next year we can start one on the Passaic starting near Berkley Heights.
We can't let these guys down, people to bring water or food or to shuttle cars, every little bit helps. I feel bad that I am just now finding out about this.
On Sunday August 18th we will be hosting our followup event "Double Down"! Launch time for all teams is 9am at the old white bridge in Neshanic Station. We encourage all volunteers to arrive between 8:00 and 8:30 for sign-in and our breakfast meet and greet. We will provide breakfast, and water/snacks during volunteer hours. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. If you have a canoe or kayak and would like to join one of our river teams, or if you prefer to be on our ground team write us a note or email Joe at
jdavid979@yahoo.com so we can add you to our roster. This time around we expect to get WET!...and double our 101 tire total from 7/27! Come on out and let's "Double Down"!!!
