Exclamation NJF Pike-a -thon important info for May 4th

Some quick info for guys just reading this:

What- 1st Annual NJFishing Passaic River Pike-A-Thon
When- Saturday, May 4th. 8AM meet at launch-4pm finish
Where- Elmwood Park municipal boat ramp
350 River Dr., Elmwood Park, NJ (1 minute from Rt. 80, 5 minutes from Rt. 46 and GSP)

Details:
-All are welcome. Most will be fishing from kayaks, canoes or small jon boats, but there may be a few guys with bigger/gas powered boats. The more, the merrier.

-Optional $10/person pool for HEAVIEST Northern Pike. A few guys, including myself, have digital scales. I own the Rapala unit and don't think I paid more than $20 for it if you want to pick up your own. There should be enough guys around to assist in weighing/photographing your catch if need be.

-FastEddie generously offered to match the pot to a certain limit ($100). Offer the guy a handshake, man-hug or cold beer for his good deed! If he ends up winning, a vote will be taken to decide his fate. Rumor has it he doesn't swim well without his Trout-patterned Swimmies!

-If you haven't fished the area of river before, its slow moving with a very, very light current. Wind is more of an issue here since the river is fairly wider then some of the popular upstream areas. A few hundred feet before the Dundee Dam, there is a pipe that runs across the river that acts as a good "don't go any further" reminder.

-Beautiful, scenic views of Rt.'s 80, 46, 21, 20 and GSP. Urban fishing at its finest .

-Elmwood Park PD usually frequent the area, so I'm not sure drinking a few wouldn't be smart until we're out in the water. Flasks are another story .

I think that's the basics guys. I don't fish the Elmwood Park/Dundee Lake section as often as I do other areas, but I usually pick up a few Pike with some Smallies mixed in. As expected, lots of shoreline structure, weedbeds, a few nice coves, and a few deeper areas in the main channel and near the bridges. Any more questions, post 'em up or send me a private message.
