Um scientifically speaking the storm started in the warm water tropics but ran into cool water on its way up, which would normally cause the storm to peter out. The atmospheric pressure caused the energy ramp up thats hitting us now and thus called "Frankenstorm"...not NJ's warm water you momo.
Using the Huff post for scientific facts might be just as good as asking a 3rd grader for calculus help. I'm a dem. and I say that! Wrong time and place for this.
