Club Report 5/7/11
Wilson invited me to join him at the club today. We arrived at about 9:00, Wilson was slinging fatheads and light lures, I was throwing bigger stuff hoping for a lunker bass. Fishing started out slow, but as the temps heated up, so did the fishing. Trout, pickerel, big crappie, perch, and a decent largemouth filled out the catching. Between the two of us we probably landed around 20 fish, nothing super big, but we got some solid trout and pickerel. Minnow plugs were the hot lure.
In the trout pond, I hung into something that easily would have been the fish of the day on a 3" husky jerk, but broke my 6# test. That one will haunt me for a while. Big shiners everywhere, I was surprised the fish were still hungry when they can stuff their faces with them at will. We also hit up the club's newly acquired bass pond for a few minutes before the weather rolled in, to no avail.

Now the sun is just starting to climb up over the treetops,
And it's gonna be a beautiful day, that's plain to see.
But I won't be around at all, so don't even bother to call,
Cause on a day like today there's one place I gotta be:
GONE FISHIN'
