Default Spruce Run Mixed Bag 4/30

I got to Spruce run today around 9, with only a hour and half of sleep. And was pissed to see more brown water and strong winds (weather channel called for 10 mph winds not the 20+ that we got). I livelined a herring out the back while casting a 1/4 oz copper spinner and a rapala dt9. About 40 ft from the ramp the bait rod got hit by a 15 inch smallie. Drifted about another 40 ft and got a 17 in hybrid. Released the fish and put a new herring on. The bait wasn't in the water for 3 seconds and got hit by another hybrid. A hour later I got a 14 inch smallie on the bait again. Around noon I was out in open water and the bait rod bent completely over. When I pulled back it just held there like the bottom but shook like crazy. Finally got it up a couple minutes later, a 29 inch pike on a light rod and 6 lb test. At 5, I anchored in a cove so I could eat a sandwich. I got a 12 inch white cat on a shiner under a bobber. I trolled out the rest of the day and got a little 7 inch hybrid on a 5 inch rapala over by the dam.

It was a good day on the water. I'm glad i got out desite being blown around a bit. Almost all my fish came on bait but I saw a 6.12 lb smallmouth and a 9 lb wiper caught within feet of my boat, both on lures.

I will post pics tomorrow. I have to wake up in 4 hours to soak some bloodworms in the Rancocas Creek for stripers.
