Guy gives the numbers to a few of his buddies, fishes it himself,, and it can be cleaned out in short order... I would not blame any cap for getting pretty pissed at guys recording the good producing numbers he's collected over the years/decades... bob

Customers were told years ago no pocket GPS devices allowed. So how do you stop it? As far as i am concerned the Blackfish season starts too late but Spring and Summertime Seabass And Porgie spots can be stolen. One time years ago on the way in from a winter Blackfish trip at 17 Fathoms i saw so called "Blackfish Expert'' anchored up on a spot i already had the numbers of. I stopped my boat thirty feet from him and pretended to punch in his Gps numbers. He went ballistic and i laughed my ass off and so did my charter because i told them before hand what i was going to do. We all had a good laugh.With all the modern technology you can get there numbers from a great distance away from they. You just put the cursors on them and poof!! Welcome to the new world of fishing.

I have never seen boat traffic like I saw last spring. I made the mistake of going on a party boat for stripers on May 1st, and you wouldve thought everyone who owned a boat got a note to create a floatilla from the shoal all the way back as far as you could see.

I think it's less about overall angler participation and more about:
1) regulations have killed the idea of a diverse fishery and instead, we're forced into mini-seasons to target specific fish. May 1st as the example - Blackfish closed the day prior, Fluke opened the next day and the Sea Bass opener was 2 weeks away. If you wanted to saltwater fish that day...you had 1 choice.

2) Fish concentration. The spring ocean bite I grew up on has been non-existent the past couple of years, everyone is one single body of water targeting this fish and driving from every direction to get on them.
