![]() How is it that this will be enforced?? Is each and every vessel above the size limit getting outfitted with some kind of tracking device to monitor speed? I don't understand how the gov't would have the resources to enforce this kind of thing efficiently. It all seems very conveniently timed with the industrialization of our ocean.

![]() Currently commercial boats have to maintain them being on 24/7
Nothing says they won’t make the same requirement . And if guys think it will end at 35’ it won’t . No way they are going to let 28-35 foot boats do 60 next to bigger boats holding 10 mph . They are coming for every boater a few foot at a time . . Boaters are in the way of billion dollar projects , they want them gone

![]() VHF radios are not even required on rec boats under 66 feet. AIS on rec boats when radios are not required is a BIG stretch on speculation. Not that it cant happen. VERY UNLIKELY.
And truth be told most vessels offshore are rec boaters. A big of hysteria might be contagious. Not like making us use circle hooks to fish right? How do they enforce that your using the right hook? Possible. But likely voluntary if ever. Quote:

![]() For hire boats over 66 feet must have 2 AIS. An A and one tied into your VHF radio also known as a B.

![]() Just another way for BIG BROTHER to know where you are, what you are doing, at all times... You and I are constantly under surveillance. Cell phone, your car, your computer, your "smart"TV,, everything... Now your boat as well.

![]() Maybe I'm naive but... is there a single person on this site that has an AIS transmitter ( not recieve AIS) even on their boat?
My guess is probably zero or really close to zero. AIS transmitters are expensive ($600+) and require its own antenna.
