Default Redeemer Sportfishing - Father's Day Big Bluefin Jig Beatdown

On Father's Day we hosted an open boat bluefin trip. Ran out in perfect conditions and had lines in by 0600, before we could even set our 4th line we were tight, landed and released over a dozen small bft's. Decided to go searching for the real fish and found what we were looking for, all at once, 4 banger with multiple large bluefins attacking the spread, lost 3 bars landing one fish over 150 pounds. Not cheap.

Tried popping into the multiple schools but they were shy. Guys decided to jig with instant hooks ups, some doubles and triples. Very large fish, some client equipment wasn't heavy enough and catastrophically failed. Most battles on the light tackle took over an hour. Landed all the fish we hooked, some over 200 pounds, slid them thru the door, onto the deck, dehooked and released. Great trip. Open boat next Fri/Sat/Sun, see the open boat thread for details. Call Capt. Mike 732-580-6910 to reserve a spot, jig bite is on! Big fish again like last year.

love the snapped rod shot... goes to show you that larger tuna, esp bluefin, will test EVERYTHING you use on them--from rods, reels and line, to your split rings, crimps, knots, etc. Nice job on bailing them!

Another awesome trip with Captain Mike and The Redeemer. On the fish right out of the gate trolling and didn't stop until we called it a day after successfully jigging some big fish that afternoon. Boat is immaculate and it couldn't have been a better day.

Thanks again Cap, can't wait to go again!

Jigman.....although it cost me a good rod, it was a pretty epic battle. Jigging with a slow pitch rod is going on the list of things I'm NEVER going to try again.

As always great trip. Mike always finds the fish. Super clean and comfortable boat makes the ride out there fly by! Found fish with no other boats around. Incredible action all day from whales jumping to rods bending with big fish. Can't wait to go again
