Default Jamaican Princess Weekend Wrap-up

Back to back to back Limits...….

Very good seabass fishing over the past couple of days with three trips and all three trips limiting out....

The jigs definitely out produced the bait both in quantity and quality.

In addition to the seabass and ling we also had a couple nice Tog, they were of course lovingly released with a promise to be back for them in the fall.

Had the USS Kearsarge Amphibious Assault Ship pass just off our stern which was pretty cool to see as well as a visit by the US Coast Guard.

We are wide open next weekend, call if your interested, if it doesn't fill by Wed we will be running open boat trips both days!!

Since your one of the well known charter captains and one that I believed to be an upstanding one at that, so I post this question to you and anyone that reads it. If a boat is on a wreck and trying to determine where the best place to setup on it and another boat comes in and starts fishing the same small wreck is that polite and ok. Just wondering what everyone here including yourself feel?

If the other boat is not anchored and is drifting the wreck then, in my opinion, it is ok to come in and drift. If the other boat is set up, with anchors out then you stay away.

If you were the Pursuit I encountered Sunday morning, sorry if you got your feelings hurt. When I pulled up you were drifting and I did the same, once you decided to anchor up I promptly left.

Based on what Capt. Kenny said below and what you said I’d say there was nothing wrong going on here.

Not for nothing, but did you try hailing Kenny on the VHF as he was approaching to discuss your intentions? Did you speak to him as you were both on the wreck?

It also sounds like Kenny left right after you dropped your hook, so IMO that was also the right thing to do since you were there first.

Finally, calling someone out publically, and starting this discussion HERE where it’s open to the public can only have negative intentions IMO. And just wondering, Why didn’t you PM Kenny here and discuss it with him if you know his reputation is so good?

Agreed! If you're not anchored and not committed to a wreck you're choosing to drift the wreck and there's no reason other boats can't safely drift the same wreck. In fact, if you continue to make drifts, another boat can commit to it and anchor up. It sounds like you already knew that.

You're lucky it was the Jamaican Princess, most boats might not have been so considerate.

A lot is just common curtesy, observing, and respecting others on the water. If a boat is doing very short drifts I give them room because they are working a specific spot. If they are doing longer drifts than I will hop in. As far as the commercials that come in and push others out when they arrive are.....well you know.
