Managed to get out for a few today and chase some trout. I was lucky enough to be off so I didn't even have to call out!!

Went to an NJ stream I haven't been to in a while. Weather was great, flows were a little high but not muddy, and I had it mostly to myself. Hooked 2 nice bows, landed one. Looked like a fall stocker since it went about 13/14" , thick, and had rubbed fins. Still got completely airborne immediately after I hooked him!!

Felt great to get out again! Took a few scouting trips recently but haven't fished much. First time was last week at my usual spot. Caught 2 browns there. One inhaled a spinner and was unfortunately bleeding badly. Well, unfortunate for him, not me cause he was delicious!! Nice pink meat and all!!

Almost forgot, ran into my first snake today. He was sunning in the middle of a narrow path and I almost stepped directly on his head. It was very lethargic when I picked it up to move it out of the way. Didn't struggle at all. Posed for a few pics before slithering off out of sight. Ahhhhhhh yes, spring is right around the corner!

G??? You came out from your winter slumber? I’m glad you did dude. You hit it right and caught some beautiful fish! Perfect timing! Looks like the rain train is coming in hot! Looking pretty sloppy from tonight through Sunday! Great looking Trout and pet snake, LOL!!!

nice fish g, yep the snakes are out of the dens spring is getting here too early for me, with a bunch of fronts headed our way the rivers are going to run high for awhile that should spread the fish around a bit.

I remember how crazy the water snakes get in the spring on the Raritan. Slithery bastards feel like they'll swim out of nowhere and climb up your waders.

Great fish.. You got those streams on lock. Crazy to see snakes out in Feb! Wacky weather.
