Had another group of 6 regulars out today for an open fluke trip. Had very high expectations!
Ran back to where we caught them Friday and where the action was good yesterday and found a good breeze from the NNW, not the NW that was predicted and a bit of a wacky drift where we didn't really sit in the trough of the chop

Anyways we caught fish right away and had 4 very quick keepers + a dozen shorts in the first 2 drifts, but then that slowed considerably.
Had to bounce around all over to find what we were looking for. At one point our 1.2 kt. drift was down to .2, but then that crept back up to .8 or so when the west wind started. When we had no drift we only caught skates.
Wound up picking here and there throughout the late morning and early afternoon, and had a very strong finish with a few good drifts to top off the limit. So for the most part the day was a grind but the guys kept at it and worked for their fish.
Wound up boxing the limit for the guys - Pat was HH with a double limit and also had the big fish which was 6#. We also had a few small blues, a small bonito, and a sharpnose blacktip shark come to the boat. Real nice trip and kudos to the guys for grinding it out!
