Either way that's one beautiful fish. Have seen them caught on TV but would =never have expected seeing one caught in this country and of all places a duck pond in Seacaucus! Can't make this stuff up!
100% guarantee it will not and has not survived the winter here and most likely has not grown all that much since being let go. Believe it or not NYC and surrounding area is a huge aquarium trade area as many people don't habe yards for dogs meaning they turn to reptiles and fish. I know several guys in that area that have several hundred and even thousand gallon aquariums so it doesn't surprise me but what does surprise me is a guy that does have a aquarium big enough to hold such a fish typically is well educated that they won't make it in our winters, probably had snice it was very small, and that fish thar size would be worth a good amount of $ to the guys that keep monster aquariums

Its funny because its true.

On a side note my job did relocate to Secaucus. And I always wondered if I should bring my rods with me.

i have fished there a bunch of times, when my brother lived in Harmon cove. I have seen a bunch of giant cats pulled from that small pond never a red one but just as big. All on live bait.

I would imagine there are zoos or aquariums which would take it. If someone does catch it again they should look into finding somewhere that would keep it. Very cool looking fish.

Parakeets are not suppose to survive the winter in NY. Gypsie moths were not suppose to be able to survive here. When I was a kid turtels called sliders were sold in pet stores but were not suppose to survive the winter. Now they are everywhere. Like Jurassic park said life will find a way.
