Default Big Passaic Pickerel....

So today I was again shutout by the pike - where the f are they? - but caught plenty of other fish including a beast 27" chainside. Only a 1" shy of my largest ever.

Another first: buzzbait yellow perch!

Later on caught another smallie in a section I don't ever see them. This one was around 14" and of course fought like a champ.

As has been my routine lately, took time out to throw around a grub to see else is swimming around out there. I must say the Passaic is loaded with yellow perch many of which are of decent size. Got a few small lmb, and redbreast sunfish as well.

Nice Pick. I didn't even see any perch on the section I fished yesterday...if they're around, usually at least have one or two follow the lure in to the end of the retrieve out of curiosity. It's amazing what the perch will hit when they get fiesty!

Caught a yellow perch while pike fishing on a spinner bait last year which was absolutely huge. Was surprised as you were, didn't realize they had them that big in the Passaic. I must say for a river which has had it's problems with pollution over the years that river offers a wide range of fisheries and is prety resilient.

Nice beast! Pike, pickerel, at that size who cares!!! I caught a beastly pickerel myself from the shed yesterday, they must be enjoying the recent weather too!

Also, I agree, where the F are the pikeys?!?!?
