![]() i am pretty new to fishing for trout and have only caught lakers before. was fishing in RVR yesterday and landed a couple of trout of pretty much completely silver color. it was in around 15' of water so i figured it had to be a rainbow or brown trout.
looked at pictures online but couldn't find a similar fish. rainbows had way more spots and browns a different color. this fish is almost salmon like in color would appreciate some help from the members here. |

![]() Don't feel bad, I've caught plenty of rainbows in the past couple years but caught one earlier this season that was so silver and faintly spotted, I had to ask a friend too. Their coloration can vary much more than you might think.

![]() Others would know better but I've always been told diet, among other things, affects their coloration. So that would make it understandable since fish in one location have the same food supply. I catch stockier early in the season, so they're a mixed bag in terms of coloration but that's due to variations in breeding at the hatchery.
