.

Skunksville is the devil's reservoir that feeds on the negative energy of anglers' heart break when they fish all day and come up empty.

bottom bouncers w worm harness spinner shallow by day and topwater by night. livelined herring also work, place has good herring populationa and walleyes are plentyful, dont fish for them like a bass, you will get the skunk. You gotta fish minnesota style, do your homework

Eskimo hit the nail on the head. Yes there are eyes and musky and the usual suspects. However, it comes off as a moonscape. Last spring I silently kayaked the north shallow end. Not a single sign of life at all. Very odd in comparison to other lakes I've been on.

It's a GEM!!! Diamond in the rough! Not very hard to figure out! Try some baby Blue Gills 2-3 feet down under a float or livelined. They will get crushed. South side is very dynamic with intense drop offs and ledges and under water islands. North side is just a Bass pond set up! Weed lines all over the channel. Weedline extends out past the bridge all the way to the horseshoe. Lots of fish on those weed edges. The place is a firework show at night this time of year!!!! LOVE IT!!!

Thanks for the replies.Ive fished for walleyes on Lake Onieda in New York and did very well on worm harnesses.Went to the mouth of the Black River on Lake Ontario in May and crushed them in 8 feet of water on the weed edges drifting leeches on bottom bouncers with floating jigheads.I know after they spawn they will seek cover to fatten up to so im going to try find theyre spawning areas and then find the nearest cover Does any body know where i can purchase live herring near Monksville. Thanks again Ill willpost my results good or bad.

Was there last night, my buddy caught a monster crappy about 17-18" long on a spilt RAPALA. We were fishing for bass- a few small bass up to 3lbs.

The place came alive as the sun set over the mountain right on cue with baitfish rising & predators smashing them on the surface.

The problem with Skunky is there is just so much bait fish available-herring & alewife, plus lots of carp so the fish can be really selective. The eyes stay in the thick weeds until after dark but will crash a top water thru them at times. Have caught lots on slow rolling spinner bait in the channel leading to weedy/woody FLATS NEAR SHORE.

The closest bait shop is 1 mile north on the GWL TPK @ THE PAINTBALL PLACE in WM. usually HAS THE HERRING, always has shiners(alewife) & flatheads.

It is a frustrating place to fish but very fertile water.
