Saltwater fish weight calculator
http://www.csgnetwork.com/fishsaltwtcalc.html
Here's a handy lie detector for when your buddy goes on about the big fish he caught. There might be an APP for it too. Keep it handy. It should make the NMFC take notice about the inequity between the commercial size limits vs. the recreational bag limits. Even if the weight quotas for commercial and recreational fishermen were the same, the commercial guys would kill far more fish than the recreational fishermen do. A 14" fluke weighs about 1.1 pounds. An 18" fluke weighs about 2.3 pounds. Since the commercials can kill 14" fish and we can't, they can kill twice as many fluke as we can. Which puts more of a hurt on the fluke population, fewer dead fish to make up the weight quota or more dead fish to reach the same weight? More dead fish means there will be fewer fish left to maintain the reproductive stocks. Does that make sense to anyone? |

Re: Saltwater fish weight calculator
If the girth is 26", the calculator is right on. The fish is above average in size and listed as 36". Try those specs and it comes up right.
