Rumor has it Andy S has been camping out in anticipation . Good to hear these things coming down, only going to get better in that river.

Very cool news....Just there the other day - Roberts street anyway - and the river looked great so I was wondering if the Nevius was on the plan. Nice to see the progress.

LOL. Im real curious to see how this changes the river above/below the dam. When robert st came down last year it looked like a completely different river.

.

This should be interesting. I saw an excavator parked there this morning. I didn't think anything of it until I saw this thread.

Here's a news article about the Nevius Street Dam removal from 2011:

The river above the dam will probably lower by about a foot or so. The river below the dam probably won't change much. It's not a very big dam, so taking it down probably won't have the drastic impact on flow that the Roberts Street dam removal had.

Agreed 100%....Small dam so it shouldn't change the look of the river much....

Now when the dukes dam comes down it will change things up river for many many miles....

Lightbulb Re: Raritan River Nevius St. Dam Breaching

Once you pass the old Roberts St Dam in a canoe it goes to complete slow water. Since the Raritan has a slow gradiant, every little dam slows down the water. Guess I'll start my letter writing to Dukes to get rid of the Headgates !!
