Roosters Flukin 7-18-13
To start off our fishing adventure today a stop was made at the breakwater after leaving the slip at Atlantic Highlands Marina where Tom landed a 16½" Croaker. The next stop at Flynn's Knoll Tom picked up an 18½' Fluke at the first drop of his buck tail the rest of the drift produced shorts. Then it was on to North Beach at the hook. The tide carried us South while the light breeze pushed us offshore where we encountered a steady water depth of 16' to 19' for miles. Sea Robins were plentiful providing us with our favorite strip bait that were used to land nine keeper Fluke to 23". Total for day a two-man limit of Fluke by 10:30 AM. The current was harder then expected as 5oz. were need to hold bottom in this shallow water. When the tide turned, on came the Skates and dogs and we headed in. This is the first time we landed so many keepers on one drift. Pete
