I tie a snelled hook at about 7
inches from the
swivel then another hook about 5 inches from the end of the leader !! 60 lbs leader material usually! Hope I explained that correctly!

I'm no sharpie but caught quite a few. Prefer a single 3/0 gami on 40lb

Barrel swivel from braid to 3' -#40 fluorocarbon leader with a surgeons loop for sinker. 6-8" above surgeons loop I tie a dropper loop. Off the loop I use 8"-10" -#50 mono with a 3/0 gami or diiachi octopus hook. Im no sharpie but it's worked pretty well for me. The less hardware on your rig the better.

thanks for the replys. 007 I rig like you do. My buddies have been using weight @ surgeons loop, then 2 hooks 8" apart above the sinker. Both work about the same.

I'm not a sharpie either but I snell one hook to the end of #50 leader pull off about 9 inches of line then tie a perfection loop, after that pull another 12 inches or so of leader and snell a second hook attach this to you top shot at the perfection loop! Hope that helps..

Iam no sharpie either, but I have been fishing for blackfish for a lot of years. First, snell a 3.0 mustad beaked hook onto about a 18 in. florcarbon leader. Next tie about 10' of 40 lb. leader material to 65 lb power pro main line using a double uni-knot. At the end of the leader tie a 6"-8" loop. Half way up this loop, tie on your snell hook. The loop is for your sinker. Before you tie on your snelled hook, slide a second hook down to the snelled hook. This is called a slider hook rig. You have to keep your rigs simple. No metal except for the hook and sinker. No swivels, snaps jigs, etc. This rig always worked for me, and I hope it works for you.

P.S. You might want to fish on the Ocean Explorer out of Belmar. A great boat, Captain and Mates..........
