Default A few more 'Eyes

Got out on GWL today for some December jigging with a few buddies from 930-4 today. Heavy fog on the water and a little walleye chop, water temps were about 41 degrees. Action started off quick, as I landed two Walleye within 20 minutes of setting up. First was a nice 23", with the short coming up at 16". After that things slowed a bit. I kept at the 'Eyes, while 1 buddy threw big Muskie stuff and the other drowned some crawlers on a jighead. Crawlers were good for a few White Perch and a nice slab Crappie. Wind picked up and we were off the water by 4pm.

Thumbs up Re: A few more 'Eyes

When it rains it pours, WALLEYE!!! Great job bro!!! I knew you'd have your way with them eventually. Congrats!!! Catching fish other than bass n pike should feel really good right now. What got me addicted to Walleye was there straight on dead pull. At night it was there ability to see bait on top and hit topwater baits. GOOD STUFF!!! Im proud of you! Might be a little gay to say on a fishing site but thats my honest statement.

Thanks man ....no homo taken lol. Even though I've been fishing for most of my 28 years and have caught tons of respectable fish over the years, catching these guys with the approaches they prefer was definetly a bit of a learning curve. Luckily, I've got some friends, some more and some less experienced than me and of course the guys on here (this means YOU Mr. Eddie) that have helped out immensely. BS'ing with my buddies on the ride home, I realized it was my first year of catching freshwater fish in every calendar month of the year. Next up to accomplish will be pulling my first fish through the ice...and I'm definetly game .

Nice job skunk! I've been itching to catch some walleye myself, but I've never fished lakes for them. Is Greenwood worth going to with just a trolling motor? I want to get out there or Hopatcong so bad, I just feel like those lakes are way too big for an electric motor.

I'm no expert on the place, as I've only fished it 3 times now, but from my experience fishing it both from kayak and from boat, I'd say that if you watched the weather and picked a GOOD day to do it, you could pull it off. On a calm day, you could probably get on some fish without too much effort, but on a windy choppy day, I'd probably stay home. The wind really whips through that place. If you came up with a plan as to where you wanted to launch from and fish a spot in that vicinity, that'd probably be your best bet.

Thanks skunk, thats what I figured if anything it would have to be a calm day. Looks like I need to start researching launch spots and tie up a couple of FASTEDDIES walleye rigs!
