Always had luck with senkos and jointed topwater baits in the morning there. If you park in the north boat launch, don't be afraid to walk down the trail at the end of the parking lot. It runs parallel to the shoreline and will give you a few more options then just fishing to the left and right of the boat launch.

I would say the above advice is good.....Walk a little away from the obvious spots near the boat launches.......Topwater is good 1st thing in the am for shallow feeding fish....try jigging/swimbaits and senkos as mentioned......I've never done good at Monksville in over 20 yrs(I've seen some monster Muskies in there though swimming just unde the surface).......I eventually will learn that place one day in the future ...Also, this time of year, after 11:00(and that's even pushing it), the bite will most likely be over until late in the afternoon.......Even by 6:30 you have already missed out on a good 90 minutes of good fishing time........Next time try starting a little earlier and this way you finish earlier and are fishing the prime time morning bite......darkness into first light.....let us know how you do...Hope you don't get "skunked" at Monksville
