Man o Man, these floods have devasted the lower flatbrook...

HainesMill road - destroyed, / flatbrookville (on 615) top down to the double bridges - road was closed and the road was washed out in several parts.

Dont know if there gonna be able to stock that stretch...

Major river erosion / trees all in the river that have messed up some of the nice holes.

Saw some photos of the damage on another web site looked pretty bad.
Maybe there will be more Trout for the So. Branch or the Musky?

It is called the flat brook for a reason. It changes with each new flood and the floods seem to be more often. The stretch upstream of the gravel pit (rifle range) was affected more than once by washouts as well as the fallen trees (compliments of the beavers). The road past the pole gate has altered traffic for years. The beavers in that stretch have also changed the flow time and time again. The log jam at the end of the run at the pole gate always seems to affect the flow and depth of the water. The various blowdowns through that rustic stretch do give the river a charm that most of the other N.J. trout streams lack. To those who haven't been to the "brook" for awhile, don't be surprised to find that hole where you caught those nice fish a few years ago is gone. Still, it is the most picturesque trout stream in N.J. and argueably the northeast. Access to some of the more remote spots is difficult because of the secondary road upkeep but if one of the major bridges ever washes out, stocking and access will be even more of a chore.

I agree Billfish, but what Irene did to that stream is the worst washout I have seen in my twenty years fishing that stretch.

Do you have any information about the stretch below 206 or the access road along that stretch? It sounds like the flood moved a lot of silt and there was a lot of erosion. One thing that river doesn't need is to become wider. It sounds like the Flatbrook is becoming even flatter.
