Saturday Tog on the Gambler
We left at 5:00 am with a very light load and headed south. Watched another beautiful sunrise as we closed on the first stop. Anchored up and started fishing. A coupe of Dogfish were caught on clams so I switched to Whiteleggers. After missing a couple I switched to a smaller piece of clam foot. Started catching short Tog on my first drop. We had lots of action on shorts and Seabass. Too bad we had to let them swim as a few of the sea bass were in the 3 lb range. The wind shifted and Capt. Bob reset. It wasn't as good as it was before so off we went to the next stop. We got situated and I got a couple more shorts on greencrabs. Saw Anthony catch a nice keeper and a large Ling. It slowed down so we made another move. The last wreck was a little sticky. Dropped in a hole and hooked a nice fish. It sawed me off. Got my sinker and a piece of leader back. Tried clams again but only caught seabass. The sky started to cloud up, the breeze got cold, and the bite shut off.
We had good action most of the day just not so many keepers. I have never caught so many short tog. I would like to thank Capt. Bob for going with so few customers. Glad you could come down and fish with us.
