![]() I went out on the big pond today to see if any fish wanted to play and was not disappointed. The ice was 4" of solid black ice with 1" of snow on top the wind has been blowing at night so the lake is only safe in some spots and most of the main body of the lake is open water. I found fish in 6' range close to the bottom they wanted the meat on a jig the fish did not want to play with the plastics or bare metal jigs. The weeds are close to the bottom for the most part and there is small patches of standing weeds here and there so when you cut a hole you do not end up with salad in the hole so that makes for better fishing opportunities. I ended up with 5 perch from 6" to 9" and one 11" crappie for the table. the photos were from today had trouble uploading them tom did a great job keeping the slime darts away from my offerings..

![]() I love a report from the Cong! Thank you Badger! The wind never ends lately and it looks even worse for this weekend. Let’s see what happens. Glad you got a few for the table!

![]() There ya go badger! Some ice is better then no ice!!! Very limited options out there right now and like Eddie mentioned this wind is definitely making some problems. Get it while you can!

![]() I did a grand tour of the shoreline of the big lake today. Lots of open water so the access points are limited. The biggest crowd ( 12 or so ) was at the park. I didn’t see more than three other fishermen on the whole lake. There were fishing opportunities for panfish around the bridges. I imagine if you used a shiner or fathead under a float, there might be some action if you are patient. At least you can get out of the wind.
In the short time that I was watching at the park, I saw one perch landed on a tip up. Know before you go. There is limited room for your sleds and tip ups and unless you are familiar with other parts of the lake and where to park and get on the ice, you might be disappointed. Just keep in mind that your favorite spot may not be frozen. Stay safe. |
