Default Attention All Charter and Party Boats

A tip of the cap to Captain Dan for organizing this... Please pass this along to anyone in the fore hire industry you know to get involved. Ruth and I are going to be there, hope you to see all of you there as well.

And for all of you South of us who don't want to take the ride... How about following Dan's lead and organizing something in your area?? Can we get a point person in Belmar, Point Pleasant, AC, Cape May and all points in between to step up? All it takes is one spark to start a the flame...

Thanks everyone, lead follow or get out of the way and if nothing else, please share this...

Who's in??

I've received some feedback from a few people saying we should not do this because of the public heath risks. I want to be abundantly clear this is for for-hire boats only, no passengers will be on the boats except for captain and essential crew and there are no organized public or private meetings. This is not protest, it's simply a gathering of boats on the water as a show of solidarity. Captain Dan has informed the towns, the marina and local authorities as well as the Coast Guard and everyone is on board.

PRESS RELEASE 4/21/2020 S.O.S Sea of Solidarity From Classic Boat Rides LLC Captain Dannie Schade 732-337-9292 WHEN: Saturday April 25th TIME: 12 noon from Atlantic Highlands Municipal Marina WHAT: Parade of Charter and Head boats (Sea of Solidarity) WHY: To raise awareness to the plight of the Charter and Head Boat industry who cannot operate at this time due to Covid19. Also, to help come up with procedures and a solution to allow this industry to return to service. SUGGESTED PROCEEDURES AND SOLUTIONS TO ALLOW CHARTER AND HEAD BOATS TO RETURN TO SERVICE: Current Conditions would require all passengers and crew to wear masks or suitable face coverings. Abundant hand sanitizer would be located throughout the vessel and well-marked for public and crew use. In addition to the required crew, there would also be at least one extra designated crew member to ensure passengers keep wearing protective face coverings. This extra crew member would also sanitize the heads (bathrooms) after each use and wipe down all cabin tables before and after each use. Only a limited number of passengers (TBD with a square footage calculation) would be allowed in the cabin (confined space) at one time to consume food or refreshments (no masks and 6-foot social distance) Most of the times the passengers would be outside in the fresh air. Other Sensible Guidelines per the latest CDC recommendations would also be implemented. The above suggestions could be relaxed or modified per any current State Government recommendations. MESSAGE TO THE PU BLIC VIA SOCIAL MEDIA AND OTHER NEWS OUTLETS: S.O.S. - Sea of Solidarity This Saturday April 25th, 2020: Please join area Charter and Head boats to view (from shore) a parade of boats for a SEA OF SOLIDARITY. Viewing may take place from local public docks and along the banks of the Shrewsbury River in New Jersey from Atlantic Highlands, Highlands, Rumson, and Sea Bright. PLEASE SOCIAL DISTANCE AND WEAR YOUR MASK OR FACE COVERING. CREW ONLY ABOARD BOATS – NO PASSENGERS. The Parade will start in Atlantic Highlands Municipal Harbor. The boats will cruise up the Shrewsbury river to Sea Bright and back. Some of the boats may also depart from Bahrs Landing in Highlands and other marinas along the way. We hope that when this is all over, you’ll keep your favorite boat and Captain in mind and join them for a relaxing cruise or fishing trip with your family this summer. As we all struggle to get through this difficult time, we look forward to brighter days ahead for everyone. Stay safe. Social Distance while viewing the Parade of Boats. Sea you soon. “Rolling on the River”. More information at www.ClassicBoatRides.com Classic Boat Rides LLC. Captain Dannie Schade 732-337-9292

Great idea any suggestions in to where to watch along the bank of the river since river access is limited to where you can park on the side streets and set up shop?

Best places are probably going to be in the Highlands area in public access places on the west side of the river in town and down near Sea Bright on the east side of the river... Don't want to name specific places here since we don't want them to be over run and want to respect the local people and businesses. Drive around the area, I think a lot of the locals will be out supporting this, be polite and keep but keep your distance.

Hope there is a turnout tomorrow! To Gerry's point please DO NOT show any aspect of LACK of social distances , wear masks while watching, while driving in the area etc etc and stay away from more than 2 people in a car, truck whatever. z (especially if there is any news channel documentation of this) .
If this shows in anyway that fishermen wont abide to the safety guidelines it will all be for naught

Thanks Dales, that needed to be said and if not done right, it can and will do more harm than good...

And on this same subject, I added this to first post above:

I thought it was a great thing today except for the 1 highlands police officer that was extremely rude about the gathering in the Mobys parking lot and told everyone to leave now even though everyone was either in their cars or keeping their distance from everybody

How did this go? How many boats participated, where they go, were any news outlets present?

Exercise in futility.

They won’t let you go to a dentist .
Hospitals are closed for 95% of all elective work .
Essential business’s such as food processing plants are closing down to sanitize after hundreds are infected in them .

Recreational enjoyment is last on the Governors list of things to open .
A lot easier to open state parks to allow that fishing and abide to .social distancing .

Stuff is closed so they don’t have to try and enforce laws putting those workers at risk ..

Hopefully the state starts to get back to normal in a few weeks .

.
