True, but when the itch hits we have to scratch it.

There was almost no inshore fall sea bass fishing at all this year.. A day here or there, but its been wind, rain, gales, sleet, more wind, almost daily, this entire fall.. By the time one or 2 fishable days came about, most of the sea bass were already 50 miles offshore.. If the weather doesn't change drastically and soon , blackfish will be a washout as well.. Yeah a few will bite into january but they start to shut down more and more once the water temp drops into the lower 40's.. The "regulators" know this very well. They open the season when the fish are slowing down and becoming less active.. Younger fishermen like to use the term "tog weather" to describe the cold nasty conditions that modern day blackfishing entails, but in reality, they are a LOT more active and willing to bite in september and october than they are in december and january.. Years ago there was no winter blackfishing to speak of. These days its the norm. Good thing there was good striper fishing this fall, or the party boats would have been hurting. bob
