Default Back at it: couple of eyes 10/12

With the full moon, varying pressure systems, low water and influx of dying vegetation, it's been a slower week plus for me on the river. Tis the season.... once things stabilise a bit i think it's going to be an epic fall.

Any how, 1st spot proved fruitless. The weeds were a nightmare. Saw a couple fish but they've had lock jaw the last two weeks in this area. Very lethargic and, at best, just nipping tails on my soft plastics. Spent an hour and left.

2nd spot was better. The wind was honking but the weeds and leaves were very tolerable to almost non existent. Worked a good stretch of water and managed 2 walleyes in 45 min. Nothing huge. Just nice, healthy aggressive fish. One taped out at 23. The other at 21". Spent a bit longer trying for my limit but it wasn't meant to be. All on soft plastics. All released. Pics below.

I also hit the river on Sunday during daylight hours. Managed 4 or 5 smallies to 16" and a sprout striper. I really had to work for those fish. No pics as I was wading. If it ain't a trophy I'm not risking a phone in the drink! Lol.

See many of you Saturday morning.

Wow. Those are some beautiful photos. Good hearing you got some daylight smallies and especially a striper.

2nd fish absolutely demolished the lure too. Had to back it out thru her gills carefully and clip the line. Worked like a charm.

Depends on the fish really. If aggressive it doesn't spook them AS much. But I tend to not rely on the headlamp and focus on my knowledge of flows, seams, eddies, and presentation. If I'm not getting action on various offerings I'll poke around with the light. They're tough to spot in areas with deeper, faster flows for obvious reasons.

Healthy looking fish. My friends and I were up in water at lower Robert St. last Sunday in the rain trying to put the finishing touches on anything we could before the cooler weather sets in.

The eyemaster gets them again. You sure have that place dialed in!
