![]() Just saying hello
Up until about 10 years ago I mostly fished freshwater .Then the surf bug hit and I put all my free time into that and did pretty well, and Then about a year and a half ago my wife started to have health issues. to make a long story short my wife passed away early this summer. After being married for 41 years and going home to a empty house I need to get my butt doing things instead of sitting on it. I live in Somerset about a mile from The Raritan and reading the post here I think I would like to get back into fishing that river. Looking for info. Not spots (finding the fish is part of the fun)but info on lures access and things like that. Any info would be great ,people on this board seem to be willing to help out THANKS FOR READING BZ |

![]() Welcome to the site man! Sorry to hear about your wife, I know how hard it is to lose a loved one. Our resident Raritan experts should be able to give you tons of good info, but definitely read anything and everything about the RR on this site! Super helpful information.

![]() Welcome. The Raritan is a tough nut to crack, feast or famine most days.
Good water all around, North Branch and South Branch. |

![]() Lots of walking and scouting to find the fish on the Raritan but it can be done! Nows the time of year to catch some Smallies and possibly holdover Trout and maybe even a Walleye! Soft plastics are happening now! Keitechs, shads, worms, finesse minnows, split tail minnows, paddle tails! The list goes on and on! Try some T rigged Sencos or something similar for starters. You'll find your fish granted you fish the right stretch. Good luck and please let us know how you do! TIGHT LINEZ and welcome to the site!!!

![]() Using google maps or something equivalent helps. Satellite and map imagery will help scope out access spots. It becomes saltwater around landing lane bridge, There's currently two dams, one with a fish ladder. (Duke island park + millstone - Raritan confluence)
Game Species seems to be predominantly smallmouth but I think every fish in the book has been caught out of there. Reading the usgs graphs will help. I basically just read manville's gauge. (https://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?01400500) Good luck. Cya on your next report of good fish. ![]() |
