Default Big Togs Were Chewin 12-4

Our crew of four consisting of Ed, joe, my dad and I left Shark River Inlet around 7 this morning to get into the hot blackfish bite that we have had this Fall. Got to the grounds, tossed the hook and had fish chewing right away. Not a fast and furious bite like our past trips, but a steady pick of shorts and keepers. This was joes first time blackfishing and boy did he have a good day. He caught and released a fish around 8 pounds, which brought him some good karma! 10 minutes later he sets the hook into a true hog. This fish ran all over the place and after a long battle the estimated 12.5 pound tog slid right into the net. He ended up with 8 or 9 keepers ORL with that hog being the big one, not bad for his first time toggin! Ed put a hurting on them as always, i believe he had 12 keeper sized tog ORL. Surprisingly my old man didnt have 20+ keepers today! He had a tough time finding ones that were keeper sized. He was dropping in the preschool all day keeping the shorts off of my hook He still had over 10 keeper sized tog ORL. I had 10 keepers, most of them foul hooked, with one pig that was pushing 10 pounds.
We kept our 24 fish, ranging from 16-20 inches releasing the rest to swim another day. NO big fish were hurt, everything over 20 inches gets released on my boat. Great weather, great crew, but after 11o'clock the bite completely shut off. Back at it tomorrow.
