![]() 1/2 dozen of us met for French Toast at OB Diner and the ball breaking began there.
Everyone met at the boat and Kimmy took PBJ's spot. While not as cute as Johnny B, she did fish hard all day in his honor!!! We headed SOUTH and DEEP; outta site of land and were fishing well before 8am. On the way out we had a detailed discussion of which sections of the boat would be in the shade. Well I guess my muddled brain IS a match for the FOUR DEGREES ROCKET SCIENTIST Scooter. He tried to convince me (and everyone else) that the sun is in the SOUTH in the winter. Possible but doesn't it still rise in the EAST? Pics of ride out! ![]() Everyone got in the $10 pool (took a little coaxing to get SOMEONE to pony up the $10) and we started fishing.
It was cold in the shade but before I wised up, FinS Bob won the all important Dollar Dollar Bill Yo. It really wasn't bad in the sun, honestly. Don't get me wrong, it was friggin' cold but fishable. We just had to convince the fish of this. Shorts and small keepers with everyone running inside the cabin during moves/wiggles to slam down some Pulled Pork or Brisket or Venison Stew (ALL STELLAR). There were donuts and danish and Red Wine, White Wine, 18 year old Scotch (yes Baby Al, Scotch IS whiskey) to keep spirits high. Mid morning we started to get a little bite going (key word little) but it wasn't enough. Kenny moved us 4 miles south and a little deeper. Tautog1/Paul and FinS - WHO'S got better T Shirts??????? John, Cool Hand/Al, ToggyTime/Doug and IROC/Chris Getting that LAST $10 was tough for Chris Kup/Lee, Jiggy/Joe and Tautog/Paul Tony taking Joe (willingly by the look on Joe's face, no?) ![]() Baby Al took the big fish EARLY lead (he always does then fades). ALS Mako caught a nice 6+#er then Shrimpman caught one almost as big. The current was pushing the baits towards the stern and that's where they bit best. NoodleRod was midships and I looked up towards him. He was just standing there with his pole in his hand with the tip bouncing hard. I yelled, You gonna reel that fish in or what? and he retorted "yeah, after it stops taking drag".
Fish around the same size as ALS's . Measured on digital later had Tommy's fish an ounce or two heavier. Shorts and Keepers intermittently all over the boat. Brisket !!! Sleeping Beauty??? Me and Scooter Petey and Scooter Baccala, Me and Scooter |

![]() We made a couple more moves, Kenny trying different spots but the deeper spots were where the fish were biting.
GOOD bottom ALL day long!!! I love fishing south! We finished up on a slow note but we were ready by then. Kenny will sail tomorrow then close up for awhile. Baby Al taking a nap Baby Al and Scooter Same sans sunglasses Me and Scooter |

![]() Final Line
33 Keepers ALS Mako and NoodleRod Tommy tied for the pool.........the scale just stayed straight up and down, even after switching the fish (NO CHRIS, that's the same side). We had a GREAT TIME, fished with friends and made new ones. Special Thanks to all who brought food and drinks; sorry if I miss names: Smokey Joe, Baby Al, FinS Bob, Dave Tats, NoodleRod Tommy (Kimmy loved the scotch), IROC and Baccala!!! Breakdown of keepers. John ? 0, Cool Hand 2, Netkeeper 0 (and he WILL learn that you don't take a nap if you sleep as solidly as he does, LATER), Pete 1, Smokey Joe (good food Tom), Shrimpman 3, Dave Tats 3, Baby Al 4 (The ONLY Limit), Scooter (oh how the mighty have fallen), IROC 2, LAB 1 (duh a LAB LIMIT), FinS 2, Tautog1 1, Baccala 3 (and he woulda limited out if he measured a few of his "shorts"), Kup 3 (a good showing for the new guy), Blind Archer (uh Doug, the same number of keepers as bites?), ALS Mako 2 (and the pool - ALS means "a long snot"???) CONGRATS on Splitting Pool @ 500:1, Toggytime (uh, hmmmm and you wanna know why I wear a patch?......THIS CROWD IS BRUTAL), EagleYankFan Tony 1, Jiggy Joe 2 (blind squirrel finds 2 nuts), NoodleRod 2 (and NOT until he broke open the scotch) and Kimmy 1. Kenny kicked the engines into gear and we got back with daylight to spare. My Ugly Stick did catch a little spray on the way in as witnessed in pics after I put it in my garage. Gonna need to take it in the shower. THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T FALL ASLEEP. ESPECIALLY AS A NEW GUY. ToggyTime/Doug........can you imagine what these ANIMALS would do to ME if I got sea sick and started puking over the rail??? MORE PICS OF ALAN to follow Last edited by Life's A Beach; 01-25-2009 at 07:31 PM.. |
