Question Anchor up or drift?

This is my first year fishing with my own boat and I'm excited its finally time to start striper fishing again. I fish all over the raritan bay up to sandy hook. My question is should I be drifting some bait and jigging right now or should I anchor up with some bunker clams or eels..Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

This time of year it's typically a night bite on eels or first or last light chunking bunker, heads are best. Also look around in the reach channel and troll deep in the channel and along the edges with shad umbrella rigs.

If past years are like this year and sand eels show up, around Thanksgiving it will be a daytime run and gun fishery casting jigs. If that happens you are in for a treat. Just don't pull your boat.

Stay in touch here or PM me and hopefully we can make your first season with your new boat a productive one.
