Headed to the river at 7 this morning, couldnt wait to try out my latest st. croix with its perfect ML action for river bass. First spot was the wing dam. threw everything into deep pools and riffles, not a thing, but a big injured looking catfish did come into the shallows right near the rock i was standing on. tried throwing a rapala near him, foul hooked its dorsal and shook the hook instantly. did get one rock bass eventually...around 11 headed over to bulls island, fished under the bridge managed 4 dink smallies on jigs. lost a bunch more tackle then waded just short of a mile upstream, tossing out wacky worms as i walked on for the remainder of the day. finally started getting into better fish, caught 5 more in the 10-12" range but nothing impressive. left around 3. great fun with the new rod, the worst part was the long walk back to the parking lot
