![]() I have never been to round valley and I am thinking of going soon. Sadly I do not own a boat so am going to fish from shore. I want to try to catch bass or trout if that's possible. And if it is possible from shore I really want to catch my first smallmouth bass or chain pickerel. Catfish are fine too. Anything but panfish ( I can just walk 5 minutes to lake Creighton for that) Any help about spots, lures, or baits would be appreciated.

![]() Mark B. takes the 3 mile hike in at the very back of the lake and does very well. Moz and others fish near the campers launch inside the park itself and they do well there also. I guess like most fishing it is putting in your time and pounding the banks. Let us know how you do and I hope others can post more info on this.

![]() Fish the swimming side of round valley loaded with bass and pickerel, throw lures plastic worms or shiners for live bait. Lots weeds on that side and not tons of fishing pressure like the other side, goodluck let us know how ya make out!

![]() I fished here sunday and did pretty well on the sandy area straight across from the boat launch. Its the first sandy section the moment u go under the fence. The bass werent that big mostly 10-12 inches, but they were still fun to fight on a small popper. The water levels were higher then normal so just get ready to wade in a little.

![]() Swimming lake has been D-E-A-D the last 2 weeks. They had it closed for swimming last weekend because of high clorophyl levels. Not sure if that's had anything to do with it but other than one decent bite I haven't hooked anything nor seen any bass cruising around. Kind of depressing, hopefully they unlock their jaws soon assuming that algae outbreak didn't mess them up.
The big lake is the usual rock-bass-bite-in-the-arse fest with them tugging on plastic worms 3x the size they are on every single cast. I did manage a smallie the other day which doesn't happen often during the summer months from the causeway. Place has been even more of a circus this summer on weekends. It's always been the case later in the day there, but even early in the AM when I usually had the swimming lake to myself I had 3 guys camp out right on top of me with not another soul on the shoreline. ![]()

![]() Yes, tons of small rock bass & no trout from the shore when the water is warm.
Trout from the shore when the water cools down in late fall through the winter. |
