Hey, get yourself a "guide to the wrecks and reefs of nj" has all sorts of good info to learn. You would be able to hit the Shark River Reef which is about 15 miles offshore on the west edge of the mud hole . Depths out there are from 70 ft on top of some structure to 130'. You can expect to catch all the bottom dwellers out there , it's a big area so I would suggest getting that guide.

SR reef is your best bet,I would get a shipwreck chart for diving , one side shows some wrecks and the back lists them all GPS and Loran- way more than actually marked on the maps, forget the name but he's a local nj guy that does this ill shoot you the info when I get back to my boat. I'm in seaport by sunsets.
Store my # 732-585-seven one one 8. Our range is limited to 20 out as well... I have a thirsty ass Johnson 200 so we can't get out that far either.

There is also sea girt reef, sandy hook reef, axel Carlson, and a number of wrecks in/near the mud hole you can reach.

Good luck out there, but remember if you catch up stripers, and take them outside the 3mile line you are in for a rude awakening if you get visited by fish & game. ( Last year there were many inspections in the Sandy Hook area) Do your bottom fishing off shore first, and then go for your in shore striper fishing next. Be safe out there. Papa

I think we used to fish an area called the farms northeast of belmar for sea bass when bluefishing was bad. No clue if the area is still good or not but we did catch alot of sea bass on those trips particularly in nov.
