I was more swayed by the stickied post on here as to where I'll be going.

Although I might be missing out on a money-making opportunity by not selling hockey pads and helmets at the video's venue on opening day morning.

Next year they'll stock KLG with 15 lb channel cats and 30ln carp!

(point being they don't belong there anymore than trout belong in a catfish pond)

I used to think that way myself. I live near Spring Lake and by mid-May I would see trout going belly-up in the warm water. Those that managed to survive the cormorants, anyway. But the idea of making these big trout accessible to everyone is appealing to me. It's nice that someone can go to a pond, without a boat or any special equipment, and have a chance to catch the trout of a lifetime.

Besides, where else should the state put these fish? Most of the streams in NJ are too small to handle more than a few fish that size. The ones that are often get too warm in the summer to hold the fish over. The big lakes that could hold these fish can't be fished effectively without a boat, which leaves out the majority of NJ anglers.

I pay $10.50 a year for a trout stamp. If that money means some kid catches a lunker trout and gets to have a picture or mount of it hanging in his office or den years down the road, I'd say that's money well spent.

Well put Lard, Got my firststockies out of the so called CATFISH POND as well! Used velveta and corn to catch those little beauties!! Prob about 8or 9 inches but didn't matter they were still trout and made me feel like hot XXXX as a little kid! Imagine yourself as a little kid or a senior with one of those BIG ONES!!!! No better feelin in the world!!!!!! You'll remember it for the rest of your life!!! So leave those places for them to create a memory!
The state stocks plenty of fish of all sizes all over so there's plenty to go around for all of us.

Here's the trick with White's Pond. Wait and fish it in the evening..3/4 of the crowd will have left. I fish it regularly during the season since it's minutes from my home. But the real secret to fishing Whites is timing..knowing when to fish it..magic hours every morning BEFORE sunup and into sunset. See you there!

I'm always amazed that people frown upon the stocking of small ponds and other waters where trout "don't" belong.

Do people have any idea how crowded and littered the "pristine" trout waters would be if fish weren't spread around for all to enjoy? Plus, all of the revenue lost from people who didn't/couldn't want to travel for trout.

I see this at RVR ALL THE TIME... And it's worse when they set up like 5-6 rods all along a huge stretch of shoreline and they're nowhere to be found. Then they scare the crap out of you when they come strolling out of the bushes or pop up out of a pile of leaves waking up from a long nap!!!!
