Finally caught a white crappie!!!
After trying for about 2 years, I finally caught a white crappie. I fished the shoreline at Mercer Lake and got 3 white crappie to 8 inches, 3 black crappie to 8 inches, a dozen nice sized bluegills and a 10 inch bass. All of the fish came on mepps spinners. Now the only thing left on my NJ list are redfin pickerel, flathead catfish and a big white sucker.

Re: Finally caught a white crappie!!!
A flathead catfish is considered an invasive species in NJ.
These fish are awesome in the south; however they are "outlawed" in NJ Man I have caught > 30 lbs fish on jugs and limb lines in TN (hook a small bluegill with a hook in the back and come back in the morning)...a tasty fish indeed. Think there have been a few reports in the Delaware River? |

I was at the exact spot where the record was caught. I'm going back after the water clears up a bit. And I still want to try the salem canal. But I sold my 9.9 so it will be tricky with just my electric motor. |

Yeah, they want you to kill them when caught..... I just want to fight a big, mean catfish. I know a general area on the river but nobody wants to give up spots. And since I will be fishing from land, searching will be hard. It seems "invasive" means keep quiet and be secretive. Its even harder to find a redfin pickerel spot. |
