Default 9/12 & 9/15 vampire hours continue to produce healthy eyes

Post muskie hangover I got out twice this week on the river. Night of 9/12 I had quite a few nudges but fish were acting strange to the soft stuff. Fished various sizes and colors. Switched to a big plug and coaxed a 22" eye into chewing. Another thick, healthy fish. Measured, photo, release.

9/14 I fished from 11 to 230. I couldn't buy a bite forever. With water being so low I took a stroll. Exploring at nite is difficult lol. Saw bait and small eyes darting around in a few places but no takers. Switched to a small soft plastic on a light jig head and kept at it. Finally saw some nice glowing goggles in about 6" of water. Pitched the bait upstream and rolled it by her and whammo! Violent strike...top water like. I guess in such shallow water she had no other option but to thrash wildly. She felt really nice. Landed her and she was... 25" and change and again, chunky. They're diet has gotta be insane in the river! Same deal, measurement, pic, release. Both swam away immediately which is a welcomed reaction upon release!

Damn!

The hunt continues for a 30+ inch walleye? I remember you stating that as one of your goals out there.

I'll take a 29" lol. Anything bigger than my personal best... a 30" would be tremendous. Not something often seen in NJ. Some day...i hope!

Man that's a nice looking fish!

I've never caught a walleye before, and by the looks of you have a keitech on a jighead? Do they primarily bite at night? Are they present in north nj lakes as well as rivers? Sorry for all the questions, I want to catch one of these and by the looks of it you know what they like.

I catch them on a # 9 floating Rainbow trt. pattern Rapala in the Delaware River.

One year in the fall @ dusk, near The Devil's Tea Table, I caught & kept a 21”er. Next cast, caught & released one @ 30” (my largest).

Believe it or not!
