Default King Salmon and Pike (8/26/17-8/27/17)

Sat Aug 26:

My girlfriend and I (well, mostly me) decided to make a quick stop and check out one of my pike spots on the Passaic to see if anyone was home. On the first cast I hooked up and landed a very nice fish with a huge head.

Fished for another 10 min and lost another fish before we called it a day.

Sun Aug 27:

My girlfriend, Chrisper and I made the run to Lake Ontario to get into some king salmon on the lake. I must say I love this fishery. The first priority of the day was to get Chrisper his first king.

After we set up, we didn't have to wait long for the first bite. However, the kings were biting weird, and we had three knockdowns before one came tight on the first drag burning king of the day. Chrisper went to work, and in short order put a big king in the boat, crossing the species off his list.

We resumed the troll, and things were quiet for a bit. We waited for a while, and they turned on again and I was hooked up to my first king of the day. After a few hard runs, the net was slid under another big king salmon.

It didn't take long to get another bite, and soon Chriper was tight to another salmon. This fish was smaller than the other two, but still a nice king.

We continued to troll as the sun sank closer and closer to the horizon. One of the rods on downrigger suddenly popped, and I was tight to a nice fish peeling drag. The fish came close to dumping the reel on the first run, but I got it turned and got another big king in the boat.

Called it a day shortly after at 7 with a long drive ahead and I had work in the morning.

How far out were they? Depth? Off the PP? They should run soon with some rain and the temps falling up north!!!

Absolutely! I love trolling the lake.

They were a couple of miles out in over 100ft. No, northeast of there. There have been a few in the river already snd with the rain/water releases more should push in this weekend!
