Default San Diego Fishing

Looking for an open boat for head boat for 3/4 day trip in the San Diego area next weekend. Any recommendations for 4 people. My stepdaughters boy friend is stationed at Camp Pendleton.

Ask your daughter's boyfriend to contact MWR or Fleet Family Services for recommendations and probably discounted tix.

I’ve done it before it’s a good time. I think the boat was the Mulhini or something like that. Caught a good variety of fish. 3/4 day our there is 12 hours.

The last two years Southern California's had some of the best fishing in the country. On a 3/4 day trip (5 am-4 pm) you have a real shot at a 100-350 lb bluefin tuna right now. We also have a ton of dolphin, yellowtail and smaller tuna hanging around kelp paddys. Fishing is outstanding! If you can swing it try and get on a smaller boat. Look up Brandon Hayward. He's beating on the big tuna and is one of the best out here. He has 10-15 bluefins over 200 lbs chartering from his 23 foot parker since July 1. Many other great captains as well. If you do not want to fish for surface fish the bottom fishing is always good. Guaranteed limits of bottom stuff... problem is nobody wants to fish snapper, ling cod or grouper out here unless they have to. Bottom fishing gets no respect in Southern California. I think I'm the only one that get's excited by it I live in Redondo Beach about 2 hours north of San Diego. Enjoy!

I forgot...you can also fish half day Mako's from San Diego. Google San Diego Mako Charters. There is a couple operations that do half day and 3/4 mako trips. They go 5-10 miles off the beach and do real well.
