![]() all the rivers around there fish good for trout, really you can't go wrong any place that looks good is good and there is plenty of access. all the little streams will hold native brookies, or head down to black river or otter creek if you want to try to get into something bigger. i think that they've been getting pretty good rain too, but don't hesitate to move around to find higher water if things are running low. have fun, VT is great.

![]() There is a river there that runs along route 100 by okemo golf course. They used to stock it with all jumbo trout and it was very good fishing. You could also try otter creek in east rutland for smallmouth and trout.

![]() I don't know what towns are where, but if you're anywhere near manchester, stop into 'the reel angler' shop and tell him you know chris pereira, it's my wife's uncle's shop. he'll either hook you up or chase you out with a gun...

![]() Grout Pond isn't too far from Okemo and has some nice bass fishing. Echo Lake is a little closer and has some good trout and bass fishing. There are places that rent kayaks or canoes, if you want to get out on a lake.
The Black River is a good stream to try and is nearby. I've caught a few trout there. The Deerfield River is not a long drive and has some good trout fishing. There are also a lot of smaller streams that are good for trout. Grab your rod and drive around and look for a likely looking spot. Last edited by briansnat; 08-01-2017 at 09:40 PM.. |

![]() The Black River near Cavendish VT (not to be confused with the Black River farther north) has a trophy trout section.
