Default Greenwood Lake shoreline fishing tips?

I would like to take my 8 yr old fishing to Greewood Lake and this will be our first time. What bait does everyone recommend (live worms)? Does anyone have any good spots for shoreline fishing? Thanks.

Not many spot's available from the shore to fish. Mostly all private property. I believe there is a park on the south end of Lower Greenwood that you are allowed to fish from. Should be good bluegill and perch/bass fishing there. Good luck!

Thanks, that was my concern. I searched on google maps and it looks like it's mostly residential (private property). I found the park you mentioned, Brown's Point. Any recommended bait for these type of fish besides live worms?

Worms on bobbers will get you pan fish from Browns Point all day long. Senkos and power worms will get you bass when the boat traffic is down. It's not deep off that shore, 4-5 ft max. I would avoid fishing there on a Thursday night. All these dirt bag disc golfers take over the park and you will end up getting hit by one their "frisbees".

GWL has almost zero public fishing spots except for the previously mentioned Browns Point and a town owned park on the extreme north end of the lake. Both are probably pretty week choked by now.

I would your kid to Green Turtle Pond, less than 5 minutes down the road from GWL. A little better shoreline access and a better chance of landing a fish.

There's a nice pond at Ringwood Manor that has some good fishing. Might want to check it out. There are a few small lakes and ponds in the area that have public access. Check the NJ Fishing Guide. Good Luck!

Shepards lake in Ringwood state park will give you lots of shoreline access and plenty of action.
