![]() i went to cranberry lake today to test run my new penn 714 ultra sport reel i bought at the pequest open house on sat. it was only light rain when i got there so off i went. i started by the mussel beds with a cotton cordell rattlin shad in black and chrome and a augertail grub. the sunnies and crappies were smashing the hell out of that little crankbait. then i threw the augertail grub and the perch joined the party most fish were in 4 to 5 ft of water today, when i tried deeper water all i caught was two slime darts one was not bad at 15". the crappies were not that big and were schooled up on the outside weed lines in 5 fow they ranged in size from 5" to 9". the rain picked up a bit more around 2:30ish so i called it the day at 4:00. the new reel worked great. i put it on a 5' 9" ugly stick lite pro rod, i like the set up. all in all a great day.

![]() Nice mixed bag ! How did the water look ? Seems like the few times I did go there the water had a tea color stain to it.

![]() the water did not appear to have any tea color it did look somewhat cloudy from boat traffic or some sort of sediment disturbance,it was hard to see the bottom past 5ft.
