Thumbs up Raritan river 4/24/17:

4/24/17. On a hunch I headed out. Had another fish almost rip the rod out of my hand but lost it. Caught and released this little guy. Love fishing that Raritan river. The Striped Bass seemed a little beat up, maybe from hanging out in the shallow water. No red marks or lesions and the fish was feeding and looked healthy.
Caught on 4lb. test and a small 3/32 oz. Black Marabou jig. An absolute blast !!
NO river too large to fish !!

Lightbulb Re: Raritan river 4/24/17:

I only fished for an hour or so. Went down to Johnson Park and did a few throws by the D&R canal out flow, nothing. I did find half of the rod FastEddie lost down by Johnson park.
Also pulled out a long metal object. So I fished, caught fish, and left it cleaner than I found it.

Pretty good fight on the UL with 4 lb. test. I was actually looking for SMB.

.

Nice Striper. It's always a great surprise when a big fish smashes a tiny lure. The hard part is landing a big fish with a whippy ultra-light rod with no back bone.
