Green Crab Trap Stolen
Set my newly made green crab trap out for the first time yesterday in the area of the Mantoloking Bridge. Returned this morning to find it was stolen by some Dirtbag. If by any chance the thief reads this, you suck and your parents suck too for raising you up without proper morals.

That's a shame, his parents probably disowned him long ago

Re: Green Crab Trap Stolen
sorry that happened, but its a very different world than the one most of us grew up in... ANYTHING left anywhere that can be taken, will be taken... My son lost his wallet last year, and it WAS returned through the mail.. However, the "kind soul" that sent it to him took the money that was in it for his trouble. After doing some reading, I found that thats the "normal" thing to do in the modern age.. Return the wallet, keep the money... Nowadays, "private property" means something thats in your immediate possession, and protection.. Once its out of you sight, if its not bolted down, or locked up without a key,it belongs to however walks off with it.. the days of leaving things like tree stands, bait traps, equipment, etc out in the field is over,, they will instantly be claimed IN GOOD CONSCIENCE , by the next "outdoorsman" that happens upon them.. Its just the way things are in the modern age..
"Finders keepers" is the rule these days.... sad to say.... bob |

Re: Green Crab Trap Stolen
Only way to keep a crab trap yours in NJ is to use mono for your crab line and set where nobody sees you...Or use a bunker snag for a grapple...sad to say but it's the only way to keep your gear....

Re: Green Crab Trap Stolen
agreed... Set your trap on some GPS numbers that you know well, and throw the line in along with your trap with something heavy so it stays fairly straight, and then snag it with a grapple when checking, and make sure you check it when there is NO one around... Things have changed in NJ, big time.. I miss the ocean, bays, salt marshes, and tidal rivers a LOT, but still not sure I could ever move back there... bob
