Thumbs up Reel Class Sunday 11/6 -- Better Striper Fishing!

Had our old friends Bill R and John K on the boat for a charter with their buddies. After a slow Saturday we got an early start and headed a different direction.

As soon as we broke the inlet my phone started blowing up and there was a huge fleet not too far away - we quickly found the bait and went to work with snagging and dropping boxing a few fish real quick and breaking off/missing a couple others. By 730 that patch dried up and boat traffic there became insane so we went looking and found another pod with very few boats on it, and got a few more unders.

After that last shot, the N wind really came on, and the bass pushed off somewhere. It also got tough with the speed of the drift as we were going 1.5 kts - very tough to fish live bunker when you're moving that fast!

For the rest of the day we put out the spoons and trolled up a bunch of jumbo blues in the 12-18# range - and we even went back in on the pods when they were spraying but found even more alligator blues tearing through them and cutting off our snags.

So for the day we got the guys all of their unders up to just about 42.999"/32#, we had one other right about 30# but the rest were smaller fish in the 20-25# range as well as about 15 bluefish (kept 4 of those).

Overall a much better day than Saturday - even got to see a whale breach about 30' from the boat!

Capt. Allen did an awesome job keeping us on the fish in heavy traffic and Eric did an amazing job on deck while six of us were snagging and live-lining the bunker. Not an easy task making that all go smoothly but they did. Kudos to the capt and crew!
