Tuna braid to mono knot

I have a couple of trips coming up I'm glad they are not until October given the dismal tuna reports. Anyway, after many many years of tuna chunk fishing I'm finally getting tired of working an Intl. 50 all night and want to step down now that some of the smaller reels manufacturers have improved their drag systems. I have several chunking and jigging reels and want to start using my Avet HWX for chunking as I was primarily using it for jigging before. I have 80lb color braid on it and want to put a 100 yard topshot of 80lb. mono. Here's my problem: I have tried tying Alberto's, double unis, yucatan, slim beauty, and sebile knots but they have all pulled out when I draw them tight and put pressure on them. I've watched numerous YouTube videos and tried all of those knots numerous times. I'm using 80lb mono and was wondering if that is just too heavy. What knots are you guys using for 80lb braid to mono?

Bimini twist to Yucatán, I've never seen one pull if tied correctly.

I used FG knot on smaller (40 lb or less) mono.

Bimini the braid & use a wind on that will end ur knot problem ! 80 X 80 I can knot easily using 25 turn Bimini & reverse Albright add some knot sense to fill in gaps .
However my first choice is HC braid splice in fluoro & ur done , no knots snell on hook or crimp . I prefer loop knot on hook ,double thru nail knot or double uni , loop or u can use CB tuna hooks with ring then u can use Palomar or nail it ring .I prefer the hook to,remain free some like it fixed choice is yours not too much difference on hookups just my preference
Ur knots are failing due to u not cinching properly & ur braid if solid should always bemini looped then knot will hold no issues

80# mono is not too heavy. You'll appreciate it when it rubs the side of the boat. Plus you can always switch out your leaders via a ball bearing snap swivel. I carry anywhere between 30- 100# flouro. As for your braid to top shot connection I use a PR knot. You'll need a bobbin to do this but it's the next best thing to splicing mono inside hollow core. It's as close to 100% as you're going to get.

This may sound like a silly idea, but I'm going to suggest you go to your local tackle shop where you do business and ask them if they can give you some help. Sounds like you're not getting things cinched down correctly and spending a few minutes with someone who can spot your mistakes will get you fixed up in short order.

Best is to go loop to loop. You will need to get hollow core braid and have a loop installed...it's inexpensive. The other alternative is an improved albright or fg knot. If you are near north jersey, I can tie for you.

^^^^^X2 just tie it perfectly and DO EVERY STEP--especially cinching down the braid--I use this for all my braid backing to top shots...then I use 1 drop of crazy glue on it....

Varivas knot, I'm probably one of the few ppl I know who uses it but I will tell you it is just as strong as the other knots mentioned and far less work. I use it for inshore and offshore and I find it impossible to break free when i'm stuck in the bottom. Unless I'm using less than 40lb test it is a b!tch to break free. its not as seemless as the other knots but pinch the mono tag end with pliers or burn and it goes through the guides no problem.
